Itinerary
Day 1: Hong Kong
Welcome to Hong Kong! We'll pick you up from the airport to start a full 14-day tour that will take us all around the best sites in China. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, you'll have a few hours free to relax before meeting up with the guide.
We'll take a small nighttime walk and enjoy a ferry ride around Victoria Bay, a place which offers incredible views of the illuminated skyscrapers of Hong Kong. Don't forget your cameras!
At the end of the first day, we'll take you to the hotel where you'll enjoy dinner which is included.
Day 2: Hong Kong
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll visit the financial district in Hong Kong. We'll reveal how it has evolved from colonial British times to the current day as we walk among the tall buildings. We'll also visit the History Museum to learn more about this.
Then, we'll head to the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong, a place that pays homage to the film industry in the region. You can take your photo by the statue of Bruce Lee!
Afterwards, we'll board a boat that will take us to the feet of Victoria Peak, the highest peak in the city. We'll climb this 552 metre (1712 feet) high mountain to enjoy one of the best views of Hong Kong and, finally, we'll come down in the cable car.
After a morning full of adventure, we'll leave you at your hotel. You'll have the rest of the day free to eat and continue exploring the city.
Day 3: Hong Kong - Shanghai
On the third day, after breakfast, we'll go to the airport to take a flight from Hong Kong to Shanghai. We'll land 3 hours later in one of the biggest economic and cultural centres in China.
We'll take you to the hotel and see you again the next day.
Day 4: Shanghai
Good morning! Once you've had breakfast, we'll start to explore Shanghai, starting in the Pudong financial district. Here, you'll find the Oriental Pearl Tower, one of the most photographed buildings in the city. We'll explain why it's said that its construction marked the start of modern China.
To enjoy the incredible views of Shanghai, we'll take a boat trip around the Huangpu River. After the ride, we'll walk along the narrow streets of the old town and enter the Yuyuan Garden, one of the most beautiful in China. Did you know that they date back to the 16th century?
Then, we'll attend a tea ceremony to learn about the important cultural role this drink holds in China. We'll enjoy its smells and flavours before heading to the Xintiandi neighbourhood, where you'll have lunch included.
Before returning to the hotel, we'll also explore The Bund and the Tianzifand district, an area that was occupied by the French troops after the Second World War.
Day 5: Shanghai - Luoyang
Next stop... ¡Luoyang! We'll head into the heart of China, travelling by high-speed train for approximately 5 hours. In addition, you'll enjoy lunch included on this journey.
We'll leave our luggage at the hotel and set out to the Longmen caves. These caves, located on the shore of the Yi River, are known for being home to over 100,000 carved images of Buddhas. We'll reveal all of their history as we take a boat ride around this World Heritage area.
Finally, we'll take a walk through the Luoyang Old City to admire its walls and illuminated streets before leaving you at the hotel.
Day 6: Luoyang - Sanmenxia - Xi'an
Had breakfast? Then it's time to take you to the White Horse Temple, a Buddhist monastery built in 1968. We'll explore this important site, considered to be the home of Chinese Buddhism.
The next stop will be Sanmexia City, where we'll explore the Baoulon Temple and the Guo Museum, which is home to old funeral wagons. There, you'll have lunch included before seeing Mount Hua on your way to Xian. We'll explain why this mountain is considered sacred as we admire its temples and incredible views.
We'll arrive in Xi'an at the end of the afternoon and spend the night here.
Day 7: Xi'an
On the seventh day, after breakfast, we'll head to the outskirts of Xi'an to admire the famous Terracotta Army. This collection of soldiers forms part of the Qinshihuang Mausoleum, the first emperor of China in the Qin dynasty. We'll tell you some facts about this great work of art declared World Heritage.
During the day, we'll visit the Small Wild Good Pagoda, where we'll have the chance to take part in a short course in Chinese calligraphy. We'll also explore Xi'an's Muslim neighbourhood and, if we have time, access the Tambor Tower to enjoy a show of traditional instruments. Entrance to the tower is included, but the show is not always guaranteed.
Then, we'll relax in the hotel in Xi'an until the next day.
Day 8: Xi'an - Linfen - Wang Family Compound- Pingyao
It's a new day! We'll leave Xi'an and travel to Linfen by high-speed train and, once there, we'll take a bus to the Wang Family Compound. This journey will take approximately 5 hours.
We'll visit this residency, considered to be one of the largest patio houses in China. We'll talk about the history of the family who ordered the construction of this home with more than 2000 rooms.
Then, we'll have a delicious lunch and, finally, we'll arrive in Pingyao. It's the best-preserved historical city in China! We'll visit its temples and mansions before leaving you at the hotel. In addition, you'll be given a ticket that allows access to all the temples, mansions and city walls.
Day 9: Pingyao - Wutai
We'll have breakfast at the hotel and then head straight to Wutai Mountain, home to more than 40 monasteries and a large community of Buddhist monks. Accompanied by the guide, we'll visit one of these religious complexes and then, you'll have time to eat and explore the area at your own pace.
For the night, we'll sleep in a hotel near Wutai and also have dinner included here.
Day 10: Wutai - Hanging Temple - Datong
After breakfast in the hotel, we'll board a bus to Yanmenguan. This mountain pass, not far from Mongolia, will give us the first glimpse of the Great Wall of China. Photo time!
Lunch is included in the small town of Yingxian and afterwards, we'll visit the Handing Temple. This monastery, over 1000 years old, hangs off a cliff and is home to spaces for Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
We'll end the day in Datong, where you'll have the evening free to explore and have dinner.
Day 11: Datong - Yungang - Jiming Post - Beijing
Let's go to Beijing! Before we arrive in the Chinese capital, we'll visit the Yungand Caves. This collection of caves is home to more than 50,000 Buddha statues that range from 13-16 metres (42-52 feet) in height.
Then, we'll explore the small town of Jimming Post, an ideal location to experience the more calm and provincial side of China. It's the perfect contract before arriving in Beijing, where we'll spend the night.
Day 12: Beijing
The first day in Beijing starts with breakfast at the hotel. Then, we'll visit the Imperial Palace, more commonly known as the Forbidden City. This complex, with more than 900 constructions, is one of the main examples of traditional palatial architecture in China. Nearby, we'll find Jingshan Park, one of the best-preserved imperial gardens in the capital.
We'll also explore Tian An Men Square, the exterior of the Great National Theatre and the Summer Palace. We'll enjoy a delicious lunch in the city centre before meeting up again to enjoy a fun trike ride around the traditional streets of the city, the famous hutong.
Then, we'll visit a typical house, known as a siheyuan, and return to the hotel to relax.
Please note: for reasons of heritage protection and increased visitor safety, the governing body of the Imperial Palace and Forbidden City has reduced the daily visitor capacity for an undetermined period of time. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that such a visit can take place. If it cannot take place, a visit to the Temple of Confucius and the Temple of the Lama will be substituted.
Day 13: Beijing
After breakfast, we'll head to the northern area of the Chinese capital to visit the Great Wall of China, specifically the Mutianyu section. We'll explore more than 2000 years of history in one of the Seven Wonders of the World, enjoying incredible views thanks to the cable car.
We'll return to the centre of Beijing to discover the street art that characterises District 798. Then, we'll access the Temple of Heaven and learn about the secrets and value of traditional Chinese medicine. You'll even have a foot massage included!
Before returning to the hotel, we'll participate in a tai chi class. Then, we'll say goodbye, leaving you at the hotel, where you'll enjoy an exquisite crispy duck for dinner.
Day 14: Beijing
On the last day, you'll have breakfast included at the hotel in Beijing. From here, you'll be free to continue exploring the city at your own pace or to go to the airport if you've reserved a return flight for this day. See you soon!

If you have less time to spend in China, you can choose the 11-day option. In this case, on day 8 we'll go directly from Xian to Beijing by high-speed train and follow the itinerary described above from day 12 onwards. The hotels will be the same, but instead with only 10 nights' accommodation with breakfast included.
